Unhappy Bsod =(
Hey guys,

I popped over my next door neighbours earlier as they had a problem with their pc. When booting up, it would just crash and loop around.

I thought I'd be able to do a repair on it but alas, no luck. When you try to load from any cd/dvd you get a BSOD saying

"*** STOP: 0x0000C1F5 (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)"

Any ideas what this might be? - I've reseated all hardware (ram hdd etc) and downloaded the Vista Recovery Disc iso from Microsoft but still no luck

cheers,
Matt

Are you sure you are booting from a cd/dvd when you get that msg? If so, it cannot be a vista problem, it is a hardware problem such as; failed board, failed ram, pw supply etc.

To test, open the case [system off] pull the power connectors from ALL drives both hd and optical. Disconnect any usb type device such as hub, scanner, printer, etc. Now attempt to pw ON the system and see if it will complete post. If it does complete post, then shutdown and start connecting devices one at a time until you find the problem. If it does not post in the above config, then you will need to swap parts with known good units ie pw supply, ram, board, etc.

BTW it would help if you posted the exact specs on the system you are attempting to repair.
