I run the 64-Bit Vista Operating System.

So here is the issue, my CD/DVD Rom isn't working correctly. Due to the issues I have been having, I reinstalled the operating system, hoping it might fix the issue but of course it didn't. The issues I am having, I can open the drive door, and insert a disk, when I close the door it spins for a few seconds and acts as if it might be reading the disk but then it stops spinning and does nothing. When i search by clicking the "start" button then clicking the "computer" button it shows my "C:" drive, and my "D:" drive (the HP recovery partition) but it does not show the CD/DVD drive. I then click "System Properties" then "Device Manager" it does not list a "CD/DVD" but under "disk drives" it lists the Hitachi HTSS42525K9SA00 ATA Device which actually is the CD/DVD drive. It says that the device is working properly (which it isn't).

Steps I have done:
I uninstalled the driver, and had it reinstall (several times) no help.
I removed the screw and took the drive out, restarted the computer, uninstalled the driver, again no help.
Reinstalled Windows Vista from the partion, no help.
My registry reads :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(Default) Reg_SZ DVD/CD-Rom drives
Class Reg_SZ CDROM
ClassDesc Reg_SZ @%SystemRoot%\System32\StorProp.dll,-17001
EnumPropPages32 Reg_Multi_SZ %SystemRoot%\System32\imageres,dll,-30
Installer32 Reg_SZ storprop.dll,DvdClassInstaller
NoInstallClass Reg_SZ 1
SilentInstall Reg_SZ 1

There are two folders connected to this called 0000 and Properties
If I try to open Properties I recieve an error which says Properties cannont be opened. An error is preventing this key from being opened. Details: Acess is denied.

I can add any other information you need, please let me know.
