Arrow Computer Shuts Off Completely During Games?
Hey there,

Just signed up for TSG Forums and really liking all the support and useful posts all over the boards!

I am having a problem with my computer that I've built about a year ago. Since about a month ago, it's been running great. No problems at all.

However, recently when I am playing games (specifically games that include high detail such as Call of Duty 4 and Counter-Strike: Source) my computer will just turn off. I can usually get about 15 minutes of gameplay in before it turns off.

At first, I though it may have been a heating issue. So I took off the whole side of my computer and tried to let it cool off for about 30 minutes, turned it back on, and got back into the game. Then the same thing happened.

I downloaded a program called SpeedFan, which shows me my temperature of everything. Here's what it shows me... I have no idea how to read it so I cannot tell if something is overheating or not.

I also did a virus scan and spyware scan and nothing major came up.

Any help or suggestions is HIGHLY appreciated.

Well as you see, you core's is ranging from 91 - 100 Degrees, Which is VERY bad, the max is normally 70-75 Degrees, and with the newer CPU's they shut off themselves to prevent damage around 80 Degrees, so i'd say you have some bad overheating issues

Thanks for your quick reply!
Do CPU's seem to go bad after some time? I mean, like I said, it's been running fine for over 11 months (est) and the problem just popped up this month.

Is there any way to fix this problem without getting a new CPU?

Thanks again!

There should be a reason your CPU is heating up, The CPU Fan seems to be running just under 3000RPM which is good, Check to see if the Heatsink is dusty, also you may need to replace the thermal compound on the CPU.

Now that you mention it.... there was a slight problem with the heatsink staying on when I was putting the computer together.
I think that may be the problem. I am going to check this out after I get some sleep and update you soon.

Thanks a bunch Mad!
