Many respondants were quick to denounce the idea of converting a wired PS2 keyboard to wireless, saying things like "PS2 is PS2, wireless is wireless", and essentially saying the two interfaces were irreconcilable.
Not true.
At least, it isn't true it you're prepared to put some effort into it
Many wireless keyboards _are_ PS2 keyboards, they simply have an RF transmitter built into the keyboard, and an RF receiver plugged into the _PS2_ port!
Internally, you could decouple the RF components, and reconnect the keyboard and plug via some standard cable.
The same can be true for currently wired PS2 keyboards.
Unless you know exactly where and what RF components to buy, I'd suggest buying a no-frills (ie. Cheapy McCheap) wireless keyboard with a PS2 receiver. The receiver component can be used "as is". The trick is in transplanting the transmitter/power components from the one keyboard to the other.
If you open both keyboards up, you will see that they are identical, up to a point. That 'point' will be where the PS2 interface is. In one keyboard, it connects to a wire, and on the other you will see the RF component.
Space may be a constraint in your subject keyboard, so it may be necessary to transplant the transmit/power hardware to an external 'dongle' attached to a remnant stub of PS2 cable emerging from the keyboard. If this dongle is compact enough, it could even be epoxy-glued to the back of the keyboard.
Yes, it will look like a Frankenboard, which has a kind of cool all its own
The point here is, YES, it can be done
