Computer Freezing Randomly
I'm having issues with my computer randomly freezing. Once it freezes the only thing I can do is turn the computer off by holding down the power button.
Nothing in particular seems to cause the freezing, as sometimes it freezes when just left on the desktop with no programs open. The freezes occur within 30 mins of turning on the computer without fail.
The only fix I have found is to slide the hardware acceleration right down to none, which stops the freezing altogether. However with the hardware acceleration set to none, graphics in some games all seem to be messed up, which is obviosuly annoying.
I thought the issue might be with the display driver, as when attempting to access my nvidia control panel I received an error message telling me to re-install the driver. However this did not solve the problem.
I am not that knowledgeable about computers, so really don't know what to do next. What does the hardware acceleration actually do? Do i need a new graphics card?
Any help please.

Hi Chris,
When you purchased your PC , you migh have got PC driver cd along with it. While using that CD you will find various drivers like sound drivers, Display drivers etc. So install those drivers and then restart your machine, i am sure your problem will have solved.

I don't have a driver cd as the computer was left to me by friend who moved to korea, and he left no cd's :S
Is there any way I can find out what the original drivers were and download them?? Or would using the rollback driver function possibly work?

Do you think the problem could be with a different driver other than my display driver, or is that likely to be the problem?

Sorry for all the questions, I really appreciate the help.

Hi Chris,
You don't need to worry, You can get driver Software from the internet. Use Google.com and find the your driver software, If you know your motherboard then you could find even better drivers that works according to your motherboard.

Regards.
