Thumbs down Changing the boot sector
is there a way to change the boot sector from within windows (win7)? I am running on a dell optiplex gx-280 with 2 gb ram and 250 gb hd. when i start the thing, i get a keyboard failure, which doesn't remedy until i am inside windows, so i can't hit the f2 or f12 keys to change things, and if i try to boot from a dvd, it says "press any key to boot from dvd", which is useless... is there a solution? [THE DAMN THING GOES TO A 3 1/2 STIFFY DRIVE, BUT NOT THE DVD]

To the best of my knowledge, that is a bios level issue, so you would need to dive into the bios for that. I do not think Dell includes in OS bios management.
Try a differnt keyboard?

Yeah, try another keyboard. If you have a USB one, then get a USB-PS2 adapter so it can plug into the PS2 slot on your computer.

Here is an example of one.
