When will future netbooks have these components?
Hello, I have been waiting to buy a netbook , but I've kept on hearing that they just keep on progressing and they keep on getting better, but that situation happens over and over again. That is why I have not bought one yet, because I want the best one. I've heard about these four major steps in hardware progress that will happen soon and I was wondering if anyone knows how long it will be before this stuff is on netbooks.

These major steps are:
1. USB 3.0
2. Bluetooth 3.0
3. Express Card 2.0
4. The faster 2Ghz Atom processor.

Can anyone predict how much longer I would have to wait for these to come to netbooks?

By that time, 4.0 versions will be in the wings. Will you wait some more?
My Dell Mini has a 6 GB HD, 512 RAM and Ubuntu and I use it every day.($200.00)
Waiting for the latest and greatest is fruitless, and always costs more money

Hughv is correct. Buying the "best" or most "uptodate" will not even last long enough to complete the sale. I have two netbooks (Acer and Asus). They are fast enough and do everything I want them to do, which is be small and light enough to carry in the Ventures travel trunk.
However there is one thing that I would like to see for all computers.... netbooks, laptops and desktops. How about software on SD cards instead of CD/DVD? Then the companies could get down to making REALLY smaller more portable machines.

Yeah, that would be a great step, and it would be really nice if they could allow computers to boot from those so you could run things like an operating system installation on them, so its faster and smaller.

On your list of 1~3 items. Considering the size and price areas that define a netbook, those things won't be on Netbooks anytime soon. Such performance features will be on Desktop and notebooks and that'll be sometime in 2010.

Netbooks just don't require much... hence, WindowsXP. I've played with one in a store and they're kinda "speedy" with the tech that is out there now.

When netbooks were "new" they had 8" screens. They've grown to 10". They need to WATCH themselves, otherwise they'll end up turning it into a notebook.
