Unhappy My Maxtor Hard drive will not Show up.
Alright so I have this old maxtor hard drive that im trying to plug into my laptop. It has shown up before once or twice but now when i plug it in it makes the noise that any other usb plug in makes but will not show up in My Computer.. i have seen other help sites but i dont understand what they are saying or telling me to do.. can anyone help me get it to show up. i have stuff on it also i would like to not have to delete it.

Check if it is seen by Disk Management.

Right-click Computer > Manage > Disk Management.

ive tried.. the only thing i see is that when i go to device manager the usb thing has a caution symbol on it

Disk Manager.

But if you see a symbol in Device Manager, then see if it disappears when you remove the drive. Do other USB devices work all right?

Try updateing the drivers... Thats generaly what the caution sing means !

No drivers are needed. Do not install different ones.

Try other USB devices. Do they work? Does the warning appear for them, too? Is the warning there when no USB devices are plugged in?
