Question How do I install LG Flatron W1642S screen?
(using Windows XP)

Morning everyone!

According to the instructions, I insert the driver CD then go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor.

There I'm supposed to click on "Properties", and install the monitor there.

But the "Properties" button is not clickable in my case, and under Monitor Settings I can only select "Use hardware default setting".

Do you know how I can install this monitor now?

You don't install monitors, you use them. The "driver" CDs are only for tweaking the monitor color and brightness and contrast levels, which can be done from the monitor internally, too.

This monitor needs driver updating from the CD. Otherwise it does not have the right screen resolution options to choose from in the Control Panel.

I'm guessing but I think it's because it's a 16 x 10 monitor.

The screen resolution is determined by the video card not the monitor.

Okay it's that old a monitor.
Do you see the monitor in device manager? Control Panel, System, ?Hardware?, Device Manager. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card/graphics adapter...

Ok, haven't found Monitor in Device Manager. But there's something with a yellow exlamation mark going on (please see this screen capture): [I have tried choosing Update Driver but it didn't find drivers]

Do you personally have any idea about what video card/adapter you have? Do you have a model of your computer? Etc? Does your sound work?
