Unhappy Surround sound speakers not working
I bought a technika 5.1 surround sound system that does not work.
In the subwoofer, there are 5 audio output jacks, which have different colours that match the ends of the cords connected to the 5 speakers. I have plugged these into the correct slots. There are also 6 audio input jacks: 3 white and 3 red. The 3 white are: front-left, rear-left and center, and the 3 red are: front-right,rear-right and subwoofer. Plugged into these are 3 cords, all split at the end into a red and a white. Ive plugged all of these in, and put the other end of the cord into the back of my computer into the corresponding jacks (the cord plugged into the right and left front into the green jack...... the cord plugged into the rear left and right into the black 'rear' jack.... and the cord plugged into the center and subwoofer jacks into the orange c/sw jack)
I have Realtek HD Audio Manager, and when testing the speakers, only the front two work, and one of them plays with the subwoofer, but the other doesn't. None of the other speakers work in the manager, how when I play music, all of the speakers play, but not in surround sound. When my speakers are like this, if I play a game or watch a DVD, the speech is silent, only background noise can be heard.
Thanks

In the Realtek manager have you changed the speaker setup from 2 channel to 5.1 or 6 channel? You also want to set the audio to 5.1 / 6 channel in the Windows Control Panel under Audio.

Depending on what you play, or what games you play you also have to set it to surround sound - and most audio isn't recorded in more then 2 channels so the rest of the speakers either play the same things as the front speakers or nothing at all depending on how you set it up in the Realtek Audio manager.
