Thumbs down Audio Glitch (Impossible to fix?)
Hi everyone. I'm new to these parts, and thought I'd give this forum a try..

Now, on to the problem.

When I type anything on my PS/2 keyboard, be it offline or online, it will periodically cause my sound to glitch or skip. There is also occasional lag when typing in general, though not severe. (All of these problems are REPRODUCIBLE.)

I have tried the following::
Used two different PS/2 Keyboards. (Both continued to glitch.)
Reinstalled Windows 7 RC TWICE..(Erased my hard-drive before each install. No results.)
Installed a variety of different audio drivers.. (Both from Windows Update and HP. Nothing has worked so far.)
Turned off all sound enhancements. (No dice.)
Tested the speakers on a different computer. (They worked fine.)
Updated my BIOS. (Nada.)

--As you can guess, I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. Though there ARE a few people online with a similar problem, they are few and far between. This seems to be a rare occurance for most folks.. (Oh lucky me. :-( ) The only solutions offered for this problem, to my knowledge, are either getting a new sound card, installing a USB keyboard, or changing a BIOS setting to "register" USB keyboards, which somehow magically fixes the PS/2 input.. (Pretty strange, I know, and I am quite sure my BIOS has no such option anyway.)
Can anyone HELP!!!??? Please???!!! :-( :-(

Oh, and gaming performance is obviously abysmal, even though I run my games at relatively high FPS..

try lowering the hardware sound acceleration level
this can be found in Start>RUN> DXDIAD> & then under sound tab
experiment with different level starting from basic acceleration

Thank you sir for replying. However, I beleive you mean "DXDIAG."

Anyway, I tried this and went to the Sound Tab as you suggested. However, there are NO OPTIONS to tweak the hardware sound acceleration level. (I'm using Direct X 11.)

I could try updating the drivers again to see what happens. However, I'm doubting much of anything.

Updating the Sound Drivers and checking back with the Direct X Diag has given me the same result..

Nothing. No option to alter anything.

Hi Shane,

Try downloading and installing OpenAL. I had the same problem and that fixed it for me.

Go to http://connect.creativelabs.com/open.../AllItems.aspx and download the OpenAL installer for Windows labeled oalinst.
