Ram Issue - Only 1 Being Reconized
My 1st post

ok.. I have a emachines 3507

http://www.emachines.com/products/pr...tml?prod=W3507

and I been upgrading my system for the past couple of months. within limit (cash being the main issue).

my system came with a 512MB module = Total Ram 448 MBs

I eventually added to that with a 1 Gig = Total Ram = 8 hundred and something MBs (I dont remember)-(2nd module not being recognized)

Added a new video card = Total Ram = 1.00 GB

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=G458-8406

I couldn't figure out why only 1 gig was showing when I clearly had 1.5, so I Added Another gig (the exact same 1 I bought before (from crucial.com)
= Total Ram = (STILL) 1.00 GB

according to everything I read, my system should be able to handle the ram I added with no problem.

http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner...C3A72431D926C3

I even made sure to take extra precaution not to damage them. I switched them to make sure it wasn't just the one gig module that was the problem. I made sure everything was tight and connected. And still nothing.

Can someone please give me a little help because I have no clue what the problem could be

most likely the 2nd stick of ram you added is not seated correctly, ensure both clips and down and in the locked position...

You might have a bad slot. Power the computer off, remove all the ram. Put 1 stick in and boot the computer, see if it detects the ram. Power it off, move the stick to the next slot, power the computer on, etc.

ok I removed all the ram. Inserted the 1st stick, fired up the computer. Hit F2 to check the bios for ram input and it showed this:

Slot 0 - Not Installed
Slot 1 - 1024 MB
Total Memory - 1024 MB
Memory Mode - Single Channel

Then I inserted the the same module in the other slot and it showed this:

Slot 0 - 1024 MB
Slot 1 - Not Installed
Total Memory - 1024 MB
Memory Mode - Single Channel

I did the exact same thing with the other module and it showed the results.

Now I have them both installed again, and now its showing this:

Slot 0 - Not Installed
Slot 1 - 1024 MB
Total Memory - 1024 MB
Memory Mode - Single Channel

It seems both are seated in and working, but they just wont work together for some reason.
