Red face Need to access dead drive on laptop
My new Toshiba Satellite laptop is dead
It came with Vista Home Premium.
IE8 quit.
In looking around for a fix I got a virus.
It is totally dead.
It will not boot to OS - will not boot to CMOS (F2, F8, or F12) - will not boot from CD - will not recover with Toshiba recovery disk.
I pulled the drive (250 GB) and hooked it up to a USB to SATA adapter - does not show in Windows Explorer or Disk Manager when USBd to my XP box.
I wanted to delete the partitions and see if the laptop would boot from Vista installation disk - can't get to drive to format, delete, ect

I need to delete the partitions on the laptop drive and install new - I think.
I need to install Vista - I have disk and key.
Suggestions please

What were the symptoms when your laptop died?
Does the drive spin up when attached via USB?
It sounds a lot like this drive is dead, and a new laptop should be under warranty.
