New Monitor / Ghost in the KVM!
Ok, this is the single strangest thing I have ever seen.

I am running a custom desktop PC and a work laptop (thinkpad t60) through a KVM, its a Belkin Flip (http://www.belkin.com/flip/) and is a hardware KVM. Mydesktop GFX card is a geForce 9800 GTX.

Both comps are WinXP.

This setup worked just fine for the last year.

My previous monitor was an old Dell LCD screen from my previous desktop machine. I just upgraded to a ASUS VW246H monitor. A nice big 24' LCD. No drivers came with this monitor, its Plug and Play as far as I know.

Ok. So here is where it gets weird. If the new monitor is plugged in through the KVM, my hardware profile (and the Nvidia display manager) list my OLD monitor, the DELL E7171FP (something like that). If the new monitor is plugged in directly to the computer, it recognizes the new monitor as the ASUSVW246H, though I need to reboot the comp to get access to the higher resolutions.

Another test: rebooted with new monitor plugged into comp (not KVM), comes up fine, access to all the resolutions, check my hardware profiles and they say nothing about the old Dell Monitor. THEN - I unplug the monitor and plug it in through the KVM. Switch to my laptop, then switch back. The damn hardware profile and the Nvidia Display manager say that I'm using the OLD dell monitor, and will only give me the lower resoltion settings (i.e. 1280x1024 instead of 1900x1080)

At the same time, my laptop has access to the the higher resolutions while plugged into the KVM.

Is my KVM possessed? Does my desktop computer miss the old monitor?

PLEASE HELP!

-Chris
