Cool Multiple Monitors
Hi Guys,

Right... I currently have a computer with two monitors, running off of one graphics card, one VGA output, one DVI.

I want to also hook up my TV (so I can watch films directly from my PC).

My TV has a VGA connection, and I have a 25m male-male extension VGA lead.

Can I get some suggestions on how to go about this?

Extra Graphics Card?
New Graphics Card?
VGA splitter (if they exist)?

I really don't know how I would go about this.

Ah. Sorry, didn't read properly.

VGA splitter wouldn't be a good choice, but if you have a free PCI slot, put something like this in... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187041

This may sound stupid, but I have a card like that installed already... If I installed that one, would I be able to use both together, i.e. have 4 monitors in total?

Yes, you can use just about an infinite amount of cards to increase the amount of monitors. As long as you have free slots for them.

Right... just got around to opening my machine.. and I don't have a spare slot for this graphics card .

Would a splitter be vaguley acceptable?

The TV would only be showing what would be on monitor 2 anyway.

Yeah, a splitter is okay for that. Read some reviews, they aren't perfect in the sub-100$ class, but some 20$ thingy should get you going.

Similiar problem
I am trying to do the same thing, and I seem to be in the same exact situation as you. I have a VGA splitter already and all I want to do is duplicate the second monitor. When i plugged it into the VGA slot in the back of the computer it says mode not supported. I know the tv can be used as an extended monitor. I have used my TV as an extended desktop off of my laptop. The tv is an HDtv, any ideas why this isn't working?
