Question Solved: Case Fun Buzzes, then stops.
Hi, guys. It's great being back.

I've been looking all over the web and this site for a solution to my problem, and I can't seem to find one. I recently bought all the parts necessary for a new computer, except the case itself already came with three case fans and a 420w power supply. I put it all together and it worked lovely after replacing my DOA motherboard. No problems with overheating or anything.

But very recently, the Bottom Rear case fan (1 of the 3 pre-installed 80mm fans) has been making a very loud buzzing sound every time I turn on the computer, but it gets gradually quieter the longer it is on. By the time the computer has reached the logon screen, however it has come to a quieter state, and when I am logged in, it sounds normally. I know it is this case fan because I opened my computer, turned it on, and put my finger on the fan as it made noise to stop it. The fan stopped, and the noise stopped. But when I took my finger off and it started moving again, the buzzing noise continues.

I would appreciate it if somebody could let me know how to solve this problem. And my computer case ID is: RAIDMAX Scorpio ATX-868WBP.

Thanks in advance! You guys are all awesome!

Need to replace the fan probably.
Sounds like it has bad bearings.

Is it possible that the fan is loose? OR that there is a wire or something that is possibly hitting the fan blade. THese are common causes, but you have probably already checked those. So it is entirely possible that the fan itself is just a dodgey fan. Fans are inexpensive and easy to replace. I would remove the fan and take it my local shop and get a replacement for it. I would avoid Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot as prices will be higher. If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area you can get some good deals there.

This is a common phenomenon from fans. If it only does this at start and then stops, it's due to heat. IF it was turned off for a while, it obviously cooled down, this causes the balance to shift, and could cause a fan to start making noise on start up, and will eventually return to normal once the whole system has heated up, which seems to be happening your case. + It's an additional fan, if it starts dying, you'll know it quite quickly, and if it dies, it won't affect your system since the rest can keep itself up (unless you overclocked like hell).

Thank you for letting me know what the cause is. It makes sense, too, that it is the heat, because when I restart the computer it does not make the noise upon booting. Do you know of any way to stop the buzzing?

I'll try reinstalling it. If not, it's really not a huge deal. I just like my system to be quiet for my family's sake, as it can be pretty annoying in the mornings. And no, I don't overclock.
