Solved: "Space Invaders" have invaded my monitor?
Just yesterday I noticed these odd objects/designs/however you'd describe them (they look like space invaders or something) floating around my screen randomly.. They appear when different programs are open (I've seen them with WMP open playing video, with Acrobat open viewing a PDF, and even now with Firefox open) and they don't necessarily stay in the window that is open, they will appear even outside the window, but if I switch to a different window they will disappear.. It's quite odd.

Oh and if this helps, I now notice that I can see them while I am typing this, and part of them are blinking with the same rate as the blinking cursor. Then as I type, they blink at the same rate as when I type. Also when I scroll up or down they will blink at the same rate as I scroll...

Here's a pic of what they look like:

(They are the things that look out of place )

Has anyone seen these buggers before and/or know how to get rid of them?!

Many thanks!

Are they there in Safe Mode?...Have gone to the manufactures site and checked for any updated drivers for your Video card...

How to Start in Safemode

1. Restart your computer.
2. Before the windows logo you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode..

Ah, apparently there was an update to my video drivers a couple weeks ago. That was the culprit. So glad it wasn't a defunct video card...
