Exclamation Dell Inspiron 530s graphics card & PSU help!
Like an idiot, i never looked up the 530s and bought it on impulse. Now i find out that it is not a good gaming computer. I'm not a hardcore gamer but want a card that is at least 512 mb and can run games decently. The problem is i hav a slim case and cant find a PSU that will fit into it.

Can you please tell me if you have suggestions for a graphics card and PSU combo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102829 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151070 would be pretty much the best that computer can take. It' still not going to run games on high settings or such, but it will suffice. I would recommend building from scratch, not even try to upgrade a Slim Dell. Pieces of crap for anything else than office or HTPC use.

You start with a budget range. Then say what you're going to do with it, in specific and all of the things. Then think what you'd want to reuse from what you have (probably not much is convenientyl usable from a Dell though), what OS you'll want to get, etc... I can say what you'd need to buy and so on, but answer these first. It is still an option to stick with the computer you have. It will do decently and it's a cheap option.

Dell
I think i would rather just upgrade my dell because i am not a hardcore gamer and just want to play the occasional shooter (battfield 2, cod 4 maybe fallout 3) and thats it.
Is that the best value combo that you gave me?

That's the absolute best you can fit into that case. It's not good value compared to what you could put in a standard PC, but it's the best for that computer.

So the 300W that the PSU gives me is enough to power the 4650?
I heard there was a geforce 8600 or something like that that is also Half height, is that any good?

8600 GT and 4650 perform quite similarly. Google around (8500GT vs 4650 for example).
The 300W Seasonic is enough for both.

Neither is really better. The 1 GB version would be good for high resolution gaming, if the GPU itself could handle it, but it can't so it's a waste. It's not worse, but definitely not any better. Price difference seemed minimal though.

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...-70-mm-80-Plus + http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...ics-Card-GDDR2 Should work. FSP is not as good as Seasonic in particular, but they have OK quality. Upgrading this thing IS a pain and I wouldn't personally do it.

FFS, forgot that already. Low profile or low profile ready is needed.
Which 4650 (link) did you order?
