Can you put a router over a router?
Hello, I have been wanting to hard-wire a wireless router coming from another wireless router. Would this work? I want to be able to have two separate wireless networks and I'm just wondering if there will be any conflicts or any other interferences that may render this idea useless.

If you are just trying to expand wireless coverage you should be able to interconnect two wireless routers to do so. You would need to make sure that they are not operating on the same WiFI channels and at least three channel numbers of separation would be better. One of our moderators, John Will, has very nice write up for interconnecting two routers. Just do a search for posts by him that include the word SOHO.

Very possible and done quite often. I would suggest that you click on the "Report" button at the bottom of your post and ask that this be moved to the Networking Forum. May get you better help faster.
Also would help if you listed the exact make and model numbers of the two routers.

JohnWill's writeup is for setting the second SOHO router to act as a swtch so that you keep the same subnet for all computers. That is not what you want to do.

Main things to remember for your setup
Gateway address for the 2nd router needs to be outside of the DHCP range of the 1st router (static address).
IP address for the second router has to be a different subnet. If 1st router is something like 192.168.1.xx, then 2nd router should be 192.168.2.xx.
As cwwozniak said, use different broadcast channels as far apart as possible to minimize RF interference.
AFAIK, computrs on one subnet probably couldn't share with computers the other. Someone might know a way around that

Could be some problems with router firewalls, NAT and other settings that I am not familiar with, which is why I suggested moving to other forum
