Talking Solved: Upgrading memory
I need to upgrade the memory in my Dell
Mainboard : Dell Computer Corporation Dimension 8200
Chipset : Intel i850E
Processor : Intel Pentium 4 @ 2000 MHz
Physical Memory : 512 MB (2 x 256 RDRAM )
Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP 8X [NV18.2]

Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3

Can I safely replace the present memory and replace them with 2x512MB RDRAM?

Also If I do replace the memory is it a plug play situation or do you have to do something special?

THANK YOU
PUTER HATER

Go there and see for yourself. If your motherboard supports 2x512 MB of RAM, then yes, it's plug and play. Well, not exactly, you have to have the computer off while changing it, but other than that, nothing you need to do yourself.

Pretty easy to do once you open the case.. Make sure that you are grounded before handling the memory to avoid shorting it out. You can leave the first 2 sticks in and add to them.

went to crucial.com ran it but they really didnt say anything. It says on there *Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory. So what amout exceeds it? Plus they do not carry compatible memory. Hmmm so leave the first two in and to that maybe that is what I will do. I found some compatible memory at www.thememorysupplies.com I guess I will go through them...

RDRAM is Rambus. It has to be installed in matching pairs and is expensive.
