My power unit died and as the casing was kind of butchered when my brother installed all the components I thought I'd get a new case as well. It arrived today and I've got the motherboard in, and all the cables connected.....except the most important ones, namely the power on cables.
I've looking at the motherboard, then the manual and lastly the cables for the last hour or so and I am admitting defeat. I just cannot get my brain to work out what way round the cable's go, so was hoping if you could help.

The cables that need attaching are:
Power LED

Power SW

Reset SW

HDD LED

The motherboard is a Gigabyte 8I848P-G, and here is the page in the manual about those cables.


Apologies if I posted this in wrong thread. If it isn't something that you're able to help me with, that's cool too.

welcome to tech support guy,

do you see the little [+] plus and [-] minus on the connectors?
[the plugs not marked with them don't matter which, i would use the red wire as the [+] though]

do you see the 1 & 2 and the 19 & 20

does it make sense now?

Power LED wires go to MSG pins. - to -, + to +
Power SW goes to Soft Power Connector, PW +and -. Polarity should not matter, white is - so for safety's sake might want to plug it that way.
Reset SW to RES +/-, again polarity should not matter, but white is -
HDD LED goes to HD +/- White is -

uh - huh, i sure know what you mean by slowwwww typing - way back when, i used to type 60 cwm or so
- at my age, the office secretary could probably out-type me using her toes
