Cool Solved: C Drive has become D drive
A desktop PC with a single IDE drive installed running XP SP2 is showing as letter (D).
When an external USB hard drive is connected it shows as letter (C

How can I change this single IDE drive back to letter (C)?

Have checked the jumper (set as master)
Have checked the cable is attached to IDE1
Have auto detected drive in bios. (It shows as primary)

Can anyone advise?

I'm assuming it always shows as D? If so the only proper way to chance it to is to delete the existing partition, format, and reinstall Windows WITHOUT any USB connected drives or card readers connected to the computer.

Tried to change drive letters as per the Microsoft article.
No go.
Resolved with a complete Windows re-install.

Thanks all
