Exclamation Solved: Will this Graphics Card Work On My Computer?
I just want to make sure this graphics card is going to work on my computer.

Here are my computer specs:

http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Gateway-...sktop-Computer

(sorry I wasn't sure exactly what specs I needed to give, so I gave all the specs on a webpage.)

And here is the graphics card I plan on buying:

http://www.buy.com/prod/evga-geforce...210856034.html

Thanks for any help

If you are running the stock power supply that came with the system, then you will need to upgrade it with a better quality power supply.

I am pretty sure he is.
Also, the card you chose is very poor for what it costs. Don't look at the memory amount, more memory on a crappy card will only decrease the RAM your 32-bit XP can use for other things...

You will need a better PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008
And then I would recommend a better card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161262 (almost same price, much better performance. Not still a real gaming card, but much better than 9400GT)
Or then spend a little more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127434 (preferably this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500111 512 MB is aplenty for 9600GT, and you can sell the COD that comes with the card to make the price the same)
Or even still a bit more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161244

If your budget can handle it this would be good for yur PSU also, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139004

When it comes to gaming BG-0 knows what he is talking about. I am not a gamer, and the only reason I have for a video card versus onboard video is so that I can watch my videos in 1080P mode.

It is doubtful that yu are going to successful in upgrading the Graphics card if you stick with the stock psu in your gateway. Gateway uses cheap low quality power supplies for all but their very top end computers.

For that particular card EVGA recommends a minimum of a 300 watt power supply with 18 amps on the +12v rails.

It may work, but it's not worth the risk IMO. If you want to go cheap and not upgrade the power supply, get something like a Radeon 4350.

That may be, then you most likely can do nothing. Addition of a decent video card will require a quality power supply so you need to do both or nothing.Bear in mind if you do it with the stock psu, it is possible the psu will blow and take the motherboard with it and that risk is not worth taking.

Can my computer even read GDDR2 memory from a graphics card?

Does it matter?
I know it's better than DDR2, right?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Last question, is it compatible. Is it possible for me to stick this in my computer and have it running?

Despite risking my PSU.

I really want to know if it's possible.
