Second HDD Hangs
I've got two HDD's installed on my pc. The original one & a spare 320GB from an old machine. The "second" HD is only used for backups of Vids & music.

Recently whenever I try to access the second HD the whole machine hangs, can't even open Task manager. To help overcome this I have opened task manager first & then accessed the drive, it still hangs & I cannot even close the drive by clicking End Process, only solution then is to power down, grrr!

I Have tried to run Zone alarm on it but it hangs, same with any other spyware prog, it just hangs. Any use of drive makes it, yep, hang.

I don't mind getting rid of the drive too much but I DO want the data on it.

Can anybody offer any solutions please? If I can salvage the drive then great, but if I can only get the data then I'll be delighted!

Thanks in advance

I would test the HDD first to see if it is bad.

You can use GetDataBack to recover the data if it is bad.

Thank You.

What's a good way to "test" HDD?

It doesn't sound like I've lost all the data?

If your HDD is:

Seagate/Maxtor - SeaTools
Western Digital - Data Life Guard
Hitachi/Toshiba - Hitachi Drive Fitness

Usually if the BIOS is able to see the HDD then it is possible to recover the data yourself.

GetDataBack is a easy program to use. Just make sure that your destination has enough space to hold all of data from the troubled drive.
