Speaker Issue
I bought a new computer today and it hooked up my speakers to it.
at first they werent recognized by the computer, so I reinstalled the sound driver and plugged them back in.
this time they were recognized by the computer as plugged in and working with no problems, and the speakers "on" light is on, and when I plug the speakers in I hear the quick "hmph" noise, but no sound comes out of the speakers.

im desperate for help.
new speakers maybe?

and no,the computer isnt muted

Please give us the make/model of your computer and the OS.
What sound card do you have?
Also the make/model of your speakers.

Are these self powered speakers,if so,is the volume on them turned up?Are they plugged into the wall socket?Do you have the wave setting all the way up?

the computer is an acer aspire M3202 running vista.
it didnt come with speakers, so I hooked up my old speakers(id say 5 or so years old) to it.
I figured theyd work, since they came with my last acer and are acer speakers

theyre usb speakers, no power source besides the comp.
theyre plugged in correctly, not muted etc
and when I play music, the computer says theyre working and playing the music.

are these not compatible with Vista(?)
my old comp ran xp
should I just buy new speakers maybe?

*update*
I tried plugging the speakers into the headphone jack on the top of my computer and they work fine, but still wont work when plugged into the correct jack
