Congratulations on your progress.

Replace the ram, either 1 stick at a time, or both.

I have no clue about the coin battery issue.

Thank you Chris and Rainforest123. The problem is fixed. It was the RAM despite HP saying it was BIOS and the operating system. I had to reinstall Vista since I got the "B.S.O.D." right before replacing the RAM. After all of this, it works just fine. Good thing for this forum is around. It saved me countless $ and I learned quite a bit. Thanks again.
