Try reinstall the sound driver for your system. Check in device manager to see if you have a question mark next to the sound device. Also one way of checking what sound device driver you might need.

Have you already tried anything else first??

You may have an option in your BIOS to turn on the on-board sound device, have a look and see if it is disabled - if you have that option, of course.

Sounds to me it was working before he put in the extra ram. I have ran into this problem before and it was just easier to reinstall the driver. But I don't think I have seen it happen just because he put in more ram.

I've already tried going to the device manager, but there were no sound video and game controller. And I've checked the option in the BIOS - it is set as auto. Tried reformatting my pc but no sound appears. But when I remove the other 2gb stick the sounds came back.

You will have to do a little research. Make sure you have the right number for you motherboard. Model number.. go to Foxconn and check for updated drivers. And see if your motherboard is capable to up it to 4gig. I looked for info and I could not find your model number.

Sometimes disabling quick boot in bios can fix these hardware detection problems,

Then you switch it back again if it took care of the problem
