Upgrading SATA drive with Dell MediaDirect HPA issues
Could someone please describe the proper procedure to migrate data from my old SATA drive (Fujitsu MHV2080BH) to a new SATA drive (Western Digital WD3200BEKT). Dell assures me the HDD is compatible with my Inspiron E1505. However, when I tired cloning the drive using Acronis I discovered the HPA issue related to MediaDirect on this laptop. After MUCH angst, I now have a new from the company WD hard drive and I don't want to screw this up! Please advise either

1) How to properly delete MediaDirect and kill off the HPA problem in the first place so that the drive can be cloned. This would be my preferred option since I don't even want to use MediaDirect anyway.
2) How to properly build the new hard drive using the original installation discs that came with the computer. This is not a bad option since a fresh install would have some benefits.
3) Some other strategy for doing this which will help me get the laptop up and running with the new HDD.

Thanks! Any help is appreciated.
