Solved: satellite a135 s4467 will not start/will not boot
my satellite a135 s4467 powers on for 10 seconds then shuts down. the hard drive and cooling fan cycle. and on the screen it gets as far as to show me the bios where i can press f2 or f12. when i do press either it does show it starting to proceed, then it shuts down. i have re seated my memory and replaced with other that i knew were good too. hard drive also tried changing. i am at a loss now on what to do. i can't afford a new one or a repair shop. please help me with this issue. open to all ideas. i also did try the reset where you pull the batt and power and hold the power button for a minute and nothing happened at all that was different. all the light function normally also . doe s the same on battery and ac too. thank you for any help given, dennis

So can you get into bios or no ?

Can you download and burn on another machine a live linux distro such as UBUNTU ? Test with that.

as i said it runs for about 10 seconds tops. from when i push the power button to when it shuts down. the fan and hard drive get to spin on for a moment, and with pressing the f2 or f 12 it will only breifly show the screen. then power down. it does not have a chance to load anything

Do you know how to access bios ?

Usually F1 or F10 or DEL key - check manual or google for the answer.

Try to do that.

Else tap F8 key like 2x per sec as soon as u power up - see if u can get to the Windows startup options screen & try safe mode.

If none of above work, try the Ubuntu live CD as I suggested.

it does not stay on long enough to get to bios. when i do the f8, or f2, or f12 , on the bottom right of screen it does show entering. but never can get there because it shuts down. same goes with trying a disk . it does not have anytime to load . it shuts down. thank you for the reply's. i'm stumped. i will be trying to reseat the cpu next i guess. please if you have any other suggestions i'd be very grateful to hear and try them. anything at all at this point.

Is the fan working ok ? Can u see or hear it ?

Reseat cpu ? I doubt it.

Try stripping to essentials only. Remove battery - work from mains, Remove harddrive. Use only one stick of ram & try different ones. Still cannot get into bios stable ?

i did do all that. and yes fan works for the few seconds the laptop runs for . every thing starts the way it should for the 8-10 seconds before unit just shuts down. every time it is the same thing exactly. nothing i have tried has made a difference. on a toshiba a105 i had a simular issue and that was what it was. reseating the cpu

Was the unit suffering from overheating prior to fail ? Did u use it on a bed etc. ?
I had a laptop which I left on on the bed overnight & I fried the motherboard.

reseating the cpu did nothing , i use a cooling board that has a fan . laptop is mounted to it. but no it has never been placed in a position to over heat. mother board is seeming like the only other issue to go after. i found a test i bought a while back. you plug it into the mother board and it gives you trouble codes. will keep you posted. dennis
