winfast
Dear Folks,
A small child bumped my WinFast DTV Dongle Gold BDA Device. It came out without "safely remove hardware". Now I get no signal in the WinFast PVR2 software. I know the antenna is working - plenty of signal on the laptop. I've trid uninstall/reinstall. Got a new driver - the x86. Hint: I ran autoruns, and in drivers, I had "file not found - WFIOCTL.sys".

Thank you...

I wonder if it was damaged in the bump.

Try to install it on another PC as a test.

You might try Revo uninstaller, then reinstall the original (one that was installed when the bump happened) program/drivers again.

What OS by the way.

windows xp sp3. I've tried it with firewall, virus & spyware off. I've removed some video programs. I've tried it in safe mode. During the uninstall I went through the registry and removed anything that said winfast. m

WFIOCTL.sys
Look for this file on the non working system, as well as a system where it does work, maybe copy it from the working system to the proper location on the inop system.

m,

1. I tried revo uninstaller. What a powerful if scary tool. Click the wrong box and you can delete the lot. I uninstalled, did restarts, turned off firewall, virus and spyware, another restart, reinstalled, another restart, and still it gets no signal. Urggggh.

2. I didn't find WFIOCTL.sys in the laptop. It's not there, but WinFast works fine.

Just the kind I like!

I am stumped, maybe someone else will chime in, make a post if you brainstorm it or have an epiphany.

Yes, some will look for threads with no reply, others will look for threads that are not marked solved yet, or just looks interesting to them. Depends on the member.

I sometimes look at threads just to try and learn something new. Thats how I got hooked on PC help forums, looking to solve some of my own PC issues.

Don't forget you can use the search pane to look for similar threads on your issue using key words, I use Google myself.

Welcome to TSGF.
