My computer all of a sudden stopped playing sound yesterday. I know my speakers are working because I tested them with my ipod, and all the volume controls on my computer are turned up and unmuted. I have tried many google searches but none can fix my problem...

Also my device manager is empty except for 1 thing titled "PC001" which I can't expand and when I check "Show hidden devices" there's still nothing more. I think I might need to update the sound driver for it to play sound but I can't without device manager.. So any help at all would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I'm a little confused? All of your items in the device manager have disappeared? Is that what your saying? Jazz
