Compac NX6110 freezes during boot Win XP Pro
I have here a HP notebook (NX6110 - three years old a frequently used.) from a friend. It has recently got a new HD (WD scorpio) and a fresh newly installed Win XP Pro (German). Every 10th time, or so, the laptop/notebook freezes, showing the Windowslogo and this normally moving three blue boxes, beneath, freez in the middle of the frame.
The on/off button does not work, only cutting of the current and taking out the battery stops the notebook. The indicator, left under, shows that the newly installed drive is not running...
Because of the fresh system, I was wondering: may it be a hardware problem, related to a type of HP-notebooks? (Years ago I saw I Dell-notebook that corrupted after a year, because of a bad soldering of one chip. Googling told me that more than 50 Dell-users had the same problem. Maybe there is a similarity?) Who can advise me?
