Exclamation Toshiba A135 RAM 2gig Upgrade
System properties shows exactly 1 gig. Before i upgraded to SP2 it showed only 896 mb of RAM. I upgraded with two 1 gig sticks. Is this normal and if not how can i remedy it? Ive read other article and know its normal to some degree but a whole gig to my vid card?

Showing 895kb in the BIOS. I bought two sticks and the brand/specs were identical but i noticed the two sticks are different. One has one row of larger banks and the other one has two rows of smaller banks. But I booted with both individually and they both say 1 gig in memory when i do so. Guessin thats not the problem tho.

well in bios you should see the total memory
not sure why you see 895kb in the bios ?
can you confirn thats Kb and
sure thats not MB That seems very low

In system I would expect to see
895 MB if you have
128M assigned for video memory
= 1023 (1024mb ) = 1GB of memory

you should be doing all this within the BIOS - sometimes called setup
as it boots it may say
F2 or Del key to enter setup - thats the bios for the PC
thats where you need to check the memory and also the assigned memory for onboard
dont alter anything and when you exit - exit WITHOUT saving

often you can assign memory to video, graphics etc and change the amount ...
looking at the spec
Quote:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with 8MB-224MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.
I need to find the manual to see how this is assigned

goto control panel
display
settings
advanced
see if there is an adapter tab
if so click on that - should tell you how much video memory is assigend

BUT in the bios you should see normal memory on the first page I think
