Wireless Hard Drive
Hi there,

I have a PC Desktop and a MacBook.

At home I would to have a big hard drive that would be connected to my PC Desktop by Ethernet and I could access wirelessy through my Macbook. I would transfer EVERYTHING from my Desktop to the Hardrivre- Documents, Photos, Music.

Could anyone recommend a good one that would do the job? And would it need to be by my router?

Also as this hardrive will basically have my life on it...what would you suggest for back-up?

Many Thanks

Gavin

If you want network storage then you could consider a NAS.

I use AcronisTtrue Image to backup, IMO the best you can get

You may also want to take the NAS concept a step further and use a NAS with multiple drives in a suitable RAID configuration. This splits the data across multiple drives so that no data is lost if any one drive fails. The RAID controller will be able to rebuild the data on the replacement drive.

A RAID drive will not protect your from accidental deletions of files or a virus attacking your files. You should still use some type of reliable backup.
