I recently had to fix nv4_disp because it decided to break itself. so after i went online and found out how to fix it.. i did, but now after that about after awhile. my computer will just freeze and will not allow anything to happen. Which means i have to shut it off /restart it.is there anyway i can stop the freezes?

We would need to know your actual specs, your CPU model and RAM amount don't help really at all. Motherboard, graphics card and power supply models.. (use PC Wizard to find out motherboard and graphics card models, look at the side of the power supply for its model number)
Secondly, exactly what did you do to "fix" the issue you had?

uh well k then maybe im not so knowledgeable in specs, guess its time to learn more but here u go

Mainboard---- asus m2n-mx se plus

chipset-------- nvidia 6100v

physicalmemory- 2048 mb (2 X 1024 ddr2-sdram

video card------ nvidia geforce 8400 gs

hard disk--- hitachi (250 gb)

cant really find the model # of the powr supply so ill just list some of whats on the sticker

ACPIAM OEMRSDT <from pc wizard (ID)

AC input ac 115/230v 50/60 hz 5/2.5a 6/3a 8/4a

has a dot on this row
max-550atx 40A 24a 0.5a 0.8a 26a 2a 285w 500v

what i fixed was apparently the blue screen of doom which is the blue screen that pops up and says what driver is having problems then it starts to memory dump.
i uninstalled my graphics cards rebooted and reinstalled.

Did you physically remove the card, and/or uninstall the drivers for it?
You should uninstall any drivers you currently have, download new ones from: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us restart and install the new ones...

The freezes might be totally irrelevant to your graphics card problem, even though they seemingly relate to your BSOD fixing... You could want to run Memtest86(download, use a CD burner software, for example CDBurnerXP Free, to burn it as an ISO image, not just place it on a CD), RAM pretty often causes random freezes... As well as blue screens...

its the graphics card for sure. whenever i try to reinstall the drivers for the card it gets to installing the display driver then it suddenly quits and goes straight to a black screen. and sits there. I went to a shop and was told get a OS CD windows xp pro and do a full installation all over, but since the manufacturer didnt save the cd to the computer nor did he send me a cd, i am stuck as i have no money to buy another os cd.

i cant reboot into normal mode without anything running smoothly something always goes wrong. and nothing works when is running in safe mode im stuck in a huge loop.
