I've got the board on the box it came in. Plugged in 1 stick of RAM, the power, the power switch, and the Monitor through a DVI plug. Power comes on. Nothing goes to monitor, and there are no beeps. What I thought were beeps were just sounds from the case. I plugged the speaker into the motherboard and there is nothing from it.

The monitor is plugged in and turned on.

I don't understand this at all, really. This should work, but I'm getting nothing.

I'm using the onboard graphics, not the new card I bought.

are you getting one long beep - that would be normal - to show the bios has past all tests

No beeps at all. I think it's not even posting or booting. Right now I'm looking at it and the little green light by the battery is on, and the CPU fan is whirring.

I wonder if the CPU just isn't working? Wouldn't that make it beep?

Did you remember to plug in the ATX12V power connector close to the CPU?

Yup, and I have the 20 +4 pin plugged into the board as well, instead of just the 20 pin.

So I've deduced that I received a DOA motherboard. According to ASUS tech support, I just have to RMA for a new one. Hopefully when I get the new motherboard, no problems will occur!

Faulty cpu's tend to not let the board fire up at all right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I checked and while your exact cpu part # does not show as supported, I believe that is because you have a BE cpu. Your board should support that cpu.

I agree you most likely have a DOA board. I am not an asus fan and would recommend getting a gigabyte board to replace the one you have currently. Something like this gigabyte board

Next I highly recommend getting a quality pw supply. The one you have may not be causing your current problem however it is a low end unit. Here is an example of a quality pw supply. Corsair 450W Even though it is only 450W as opposed to the 500W you have, I would much rather have the Corsair over your pw supply.

You know the more I look at your board, the more I would dump it and get something else. Asus lists 3 separate bios updates within a 2 week period. These were to fix system stability.

When you see this many updates, the board is problem prone.
