Thumbs down RadarSync driver update tool connection error
I apologise if this is a subject that has already been covered but this websites "Search" feature only provides me wtih "500 Internet Server Error".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just downloaded and installed what I thought was going to hunt down my elusive computer drivers.
When I attempt to run the program, through shortcut or go to folder and x2 click .exe, I always get some pathetic server error (attached image) suggesting there is "unusually high traffic". I am yet to actually get into the program because this error appears before anything loads.

Yes I have checked firewall and anti-virus settings, the program is treated like a god.
All anti-virus/firewall logs indicate the program has never been blocked.

I have read good things about 'RadarSync'. I know it's a free program that not only allows you to scan for free but also allows you to download the required drivers for free. Although it's yet to impress me.

Can someone please help. It'd be nice to get my computers drivers.

I have waited an entire week and have not had one response to my thread.

This driver problem has persisted long enough. I feel I have tried everything and need my computers drivers, this RadarSync program seems my best chance.

Have I posted this in the correct forum? Please reply soon, I don't want to have to re-post this question on another site.

Putting RadarSync aside, what are the real problems you are experiencing?

If you are looking for drivers, which ones are you looking for and why?

Okay, RadarSync aside, my problem is thus.

I have no computer drivers for the following devices:
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Modem
Unknown Device
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

These devices are listed in 'Computer Management' as 'Other devices'.

Okay, RadarSync aside, my problem is thus.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an EI System laptop. I know it's EI SYSTEM because it has "EI SYSTEM" printed on the lid and on the bottom is printed:
Quote:
EI SYSTEM 4431
-----------------------------------------------
MODEL NO: MID2020 Notebook PC (8640SC)
MSInfo tells me this:
Quote:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
System Manufacturer: Notebook
System Model: MID2020
System Type: X86-based PC
I have no computer drivers for the following devices on this EI SYSTEM laptop:
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Modem
Unknown Device
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

All of the named devices above are listed in 'Computer Management' under 'Other devices'.

When I check each devices properties it is crystal clear that the problem is the drivers are not installed for them. I know this for sure because any and all information that is supposed to be there isn't.

All of the standard methods of installing or finding the drivers seem hopeless.

The driver update wizard is a JOKE. Whatever settings you choose, search internet or PC, it will always end saying "Cannot install this Hardware".

Please do not ask about driver installation CD's, they dissapeared of the face of the planet a long time ago. Of course I found this out just after I had started re-installing my Windows XP operating system.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The attached .ZIP folder contains 9 .BMP screenshots that help illustrate my problem.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, one thing you may want to try is run Windows Update and do a Custom scan, then select an driver updates listed there, I think a lot of SiS drivers are provided on the Windows Update site. Also check out the SiS site: http://www.sis.com/download/

THanks for your help success

MS download wasn't too helpfull, it wanted some geniune advantage crap.

I managed to download a driver from the SIS website that allows my computer to make sounds other than BEEP!

I havn't however managed to get the last two drivers from the SIS website:

PCI Modem
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

There are lots of versions, I have tried all of the GPU versions for the multimedia controller and the first of the the other graphics versions, no luck, they won't even install. Some error abot making sure the device is installed properly??

Think I can have another tip or two about getting these last remaining drivers??

Whats wrong with Genuine Advantage? Once you run Windows Update it may offer the required driver updates.

Multimedia controller is the sound driver.

PCI Modem is for dail-up internet, only required if you use dial-up.
