Just waiting for that 6-core Phenom... bet it will beat 920 by a good amount and hoping AMD upgrade strategy keeps going. In the en upgrading next year or not does not matter, ill have to do it in 2 or 3 yr tops . As long as what i have serves its purpose...

The 6~8 Core CPUs will be best for 3D / encoding / decoding... for playing games, not seeing much improvements.

OS support for 4x CPUs is still so-so.

Yes...Your build includes a better processor, graphics card and I believe a better PSU as well. It's going to be faster no matter what you throw at it, games or design applications.

You could still get a Radeon HD 5770 to further reduce the cost but it's your choice.

The cases are different designs... as for cooling, about the same. So choose by your visual preference. Had you tossed in something from Coolmax / raidmax... then a different response would have been generated.

Check for COMBO deals too... getting down to $800, not really seeing it.
I have a Newegg BlackFriday flyer in my mail.. the Antec300 case is on "sale" with $20 off at $50... uh, it usually goes for $56~60 on newegg and $50 locally everyday. This is an example of blackfriday sales.

Not 800, but under 900 at least.
Today i needed some help with my old (the one that started this post) and the engineer who was taking care of that told me that for ddr3 memory 3 sticks must be used in order to work efficiently, is that true? in that case i would have to order 1 more or the 3 in the same package?

No, that's a false claim!

You only need to use three DDR3 RAM sticks with the high end Intel platform (socket 1366). That happens because these processors utilize a triple channel memory controller.

But lower end socket 1156 Core i7/i5 are still using a dual channel memory controller and thus only utilize Dual DDR. Both AMD platforms (AM2+, AM3) can only utilize Dual DDR2 as well.

So, just get a good Dual Channel DDR3 kit and you will be fine.

Me thinks the engineer doesn't know much about computers.

You use 3 sticks of the computer is a 3-channel computer like an i7/Socket 1366 system as the others have posted.

AMD and other computers are dual-channel... so its best to install in pairs (but not required usually).
