My 2 Cents on the Software Compatability Issue :)
Hi All,

Just responding to the previous post...

Software is generally not an issue. As I stated in an earlier post all 32 bit software will work fine on a 64 bit version of Windows. The only challenge that you will face is if you use really old 16 bit applications, as 16 bit applications do not work on 64 bit Windows.

I have successfully used all of the software that I normally install on a 32 bit OS whilst using a 64 bit OS. Said software includes PhotoShop, Games, movie conversion software, etc.

The only software challenge that I faced was in the area of Codecs!

Cheers

From what I've read here, not all 32-bit applications run on a 64-bit Windows installation. One example I've read about is Sandboxie.

Hi,

I can't speak specifically for the Sandboxie application.

But generally speaking 32 bit applications work no worries.

The picture above shows Google Chrome (web browser), running in Vista x64. Notice the * next to several of the processes, this * indicates that the processes are 32 bit. Those processes that do not show an asterix are 64 bit.

Cheers
