 | Junior Member with 23 posts. | | | | just a few queries?? Hi,
I was wondering, my warranty on my Dell laptop has ran outand: -
Do you think it would we worth renewing or extending it?
also
Because my warranty has ran out, if i was to open my laptop up to do a bit of cleaning, would that affect my Dell "contract" (if you like)?
If on the second question you dont have a clue what im going on about please says!......

For the second question...since its out of warranty it doesnt matter if you clean it or not..so go for it

Just one more thing.
If i was to take a few components out, after cleaning and putting them back in, is, that it, i do not have to do any installing of some type. So, basically, can i just fit the components back into their places and then thats it the laptop will still work?

Matt | Yes, but this seems to be an unusual task. What specific "cleaning" do you want to do? | | Junior Member with 23 posts. | | | | dust cleaning! sorry is that a yes to just fitting them back in and bingo it works or a yes to installing the components | | Distinguished Member with 4,474 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Annapolis, MD Experience: Intermediate | | Yes to all.
Just use a little compressed air, and you won't need to remove anything. | | Junior Member with 23 posts. | | | | If i was to use compressed air, do you recon i could just do it through the protective vents on the bottom of the laptop or would tht not work? | | Junior Member with 23 posts. | | | | sorry to ask so many questions, its just i want to find the safest way of doing things! | | Distinguished Member with 7,909 posts. | | Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Elsewhere Experience: NA | | What you are wanting to clean are the fins for the heat tube
This is usually where the air comes out while the fan is running...the fins are usually to far from the exhaust vent.
The lint collects on the other side of the fins, sometimes you can see in there good enough with a good flashlight,,or by holding the light at the bottom where the fan is and light can light up the fins a little so you can look for lint.
Other times you can remove a cover on the bottom and access the fins rather well
