USB Devices not recognised on boot
This isnt particularly a hardware problem i dont think, but it deffinately fits more than any other section.

I remember posting a problem i had here years ago when i knew much less than i do know, and recieved a lot of help, however i have a problem that has got me stumped again.

After booting my pc no usb devices are recognised. Non at all. They are however powered, as my usb wireless mouse dongle thing shows me green lights. Once the device is unplugged and plugged back in again, they work fine. This isnt a windows problem however as for my keyboard to be recognised by the bios it needs to be replugged as well, then once this is done, to get it to work in windows it needs to be replugged again. And if for example i needed to use my keyboard in bios, then in the windows recovery (you did not shut your pc down correctly screen) and then in windows itself, each of those needs replugging before my keyboard and mouse are recognised. Or any other usb device for that matter.

This problem has been with me for ages, however i was particularly busy when it arose, and only needed to use my keyboard and mouse, so i simply replugged it each time windows started, and lived with it. But now im not so busy and actually care enough to fix it, plus need to use multiple usb devices, i really would like to get to the bottom of it.

It is important to note i didnt change anything in the bios, nor upgrade it when this happened, it was completely random. The problem occured while on vista (64) and is still with me now on windows 7 (64) and has gone through many complete formats inbetween, but as ive said, windows deffinately is not at fault. Since then ive recently upgraded my bios to the latest beta version for my motherboard, which doesnt help in the least (and was difficult to do without a floppy drive, nor obviously being able to use a usb drive). Bios settings can be set to default, with no change, can be messed around with, with no change, all usb options are enabled in bios, legacy, 2.0 etc. But ive tried with them all dissabled and no help. Ive recet the CMOS to properly reset the bios, not trusting the reset to default in bios, with no change there either

So im 100% sure windows is innocent, im pretty sure bios settings have nothing to do with this, which leaves me with what? either i have some weird problem with each and every usb device i have (unlikely) my motherboard itself is in same way damaged (would be weird i guess, especially as usb still works after replug, but not impossible i suppose) or ive missed something blatantly obvious and am a fool.

Im really rather hoping it's the latter, pride aside and all

any help with this would be massively appreciated. im on a personally custom built machine.
mb - asus m2n32 sli delux wireless edition
bios ver - 2209
i can post all of my system if requested, but i cant see anything else being at fault, then again, i could always be completely wrong

cheers in advance
