Were you running each stick individually? You should have 0 errors. If you were running the test will all the Memory installed you need to run the test on each stick individually to ascertain which stick has the error?

I was running it as a set. I will have to return it as a set is what they have told me anyway so if there were any error it does not make a difference which module it is.

It's unusual to find an error with Crucial memory. I have used it for years, and never had a bad stick, however I have never used the Ballistix.

Did you check the Seagate site and see if your drives were affected subject to the firmware update? Did you check and see if the vDimm voltage was correct for the installed memory?

This was a replacement set from crucial. My sister had to replace hers twice from crucial. So I don't think they are as dependable as they used to be.

If you still have 1 Seagate did you check to see if it was affected? Was your sisters memory that was replaced also Ballistix?

Personally, I'm really disgusted will most of the computer components we purchase today, especially hard drives. I work on machines where many of the the drives are 4-6 years old and are still working just fine.

I've got 10 external hard drives. 2 are very old Maxtor units with 80GB drives. Last year I pulled them out of their enclosures, zero filled and reformatted them, one to FAT32 and the other NTFS. They were built in 2002 and after I wiped the drives and formatted them I ran the Maxtor diagnostics on them and they checked out with no errors.

Today I see more and more people with drive problems and it seems to me from what I personally see and read about here at TSG and other sites, drives larger than 500GB just seem to have a disproportionately higher failure/problem rate than drives smaller than 500GB.

Did you install new memory?

Also, if you haven't done it access your BIOS and post what version BIOS you have.

OK, just a FYI. Since your previous post on November 12, 2009 another person was having some difficulty with an Abit IP35 series board.

I was looking at the Abit site, and noticed their BIOS's had not been updated since July 2008. Investigating further I found out that Abit had either been sold to or merged with another company and ceased building motherboards in 2008. From what I read they were intending to support the boards they had previously built for 3 years from the time of manufacture.

The latest and last BIOS update for your board with a Q6600 was version 17. If your current version is less than 17 a BIOS update may be in order.

I hesitate to suggest a BIOS update, however if you don't have version 17 it would be necessary to update to version 17 for the Q6600 to be supported. I would be somewhat nervous about this since if Abit is no longer building boards, I don't know what kind of actual support is available.
