Desktop PC Coma
My desktop pc occasionally goes in a frenzy of "i dont want to start up you moron!". I do not use it very often so it remains turned off for a couple of days at a time.

When I press the power button, on some times it turns on without problem, sometimes it needs a few tries, while others it just doesn't want to know about turning on. Other times it remains dead for a few seconds to a few minutes then it starts working normally.

Right now it is turned on, the fan is spinning, the DVD drive ejects and is recalled normally at power on, but the pc is just dead. I can tell that no processes are running because when windows xp loads, or anything loads for that matter, the pc makes a trickling sound. The monitor has a yellow light and no display, it should be green when the pc starts to work.

I don't know what is wrong. It certainly can't be the power supply. I would very much appreciate your insight into this. Right now I feel like kicking it out of the window.

"It certainly can't be the power supply"
My first thoughts are a failing power supply

probably you will have more experience in computer stuff than me, yet I had problems with the power supply before, and was that the problem, the pc wouldn't turn on at all, fan and all wouldn't be working. Don't you think?

Not to sure what you question is
I have seen power supply's fail in all sorts of strange ways giving the appearance it is working ok but it is not.
The only real way of testing is to try another psu
