Hi,

I have a laptop that recently began to freeze when plugging in a USB device.

This happens on all ports, originally I thought this was an issue with my printer but I tested a flash drive and the same happens.

I tried the suggestion here but it didn't work. I've also rolled back to a restore before the issue occured and neither did that.

Unfortunately this is my dads laptop so I can't really say if anything was installed before the issue occured.

I have updated to the latest drivers for his hardware as well as updating Windows XP.

One strange thing that might be worth noting is that when I unplug the USB, plug it in and unplug it again, the laptop comes back to life like nothing happened but it always has to be unplugged twice before working again.

Any help greatly appreciated.
