Did you correctly connect the case wires to the motherboard ?

Try just 1 stick of ram.

try without any drives - just ram cpu mobo, psu, video card, monitor - u want to get at least a bios post.

Just for my own knowledge, why would it matter if I has one stick of memory or two?

Because you need to identify a possible faulty component. And the basics of hardware troubleshooting say strip it to the minimum - then add components when you get the basics working.
