No sound
I had a Intel Dual Core 2.8 ghz processor and a Intel 945 mother board.
The mother board crashed for no apparent reason.

I got a replacement from Intel but that board had issues. I could not set the correct resolution for my monitor(Tried everything drivers, reloading OS--nothing worked). A few days later even the sound stopped. And it was not a driver problem.

Fed up I bought a new Intel Quad Core processor and a new motherboard. I had only the cabinet and hard disk from old system. To my horror after using it for one day the sound vanished from here too. I tried re installing drivers and OS nothing worked.

I got that board replaced the very next day by the retailer. Now what happens is that the sound volume is very low. The output is hardly audible. It is slightly more than a phone's output.

Its not an issue of drivers.
Kindly help. I think there is something wrong with my hard ware. Cant figure out what?

PS - My speakers work fine with other devices.
And I tried other speakers with the comp. Does not work

What is the manufacturer and model for the motherboard, and for the sound card if it is not on-board audio? What OS are you running?

There should be two letters after the DG41 (LD, KR, etc). I am not sure where you got drivers. If they didn't come from Intel, they may not work well. You should be able to find Intel drivers here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/defa...bhdr+downloads You will want to install the Intel Chipset driver first.
