Need Information On RAM Upgrade
I have an IBM T30 ThinkPad Laptop that I want to upgrade the RAM in. My laptop has two slots for the 2700 RAM. Each slot is populated with 256 megs of RAM, I want to remove one of those strips and replace it with a 512 Meg strip.

Can I do this or will the mis-matched sizes cause problems? Thanks.

As the laptop does not have a dual core processor then you should be fine swapping one out with the 512MB stick you have bought.

If the memory you have bought is compatible and you follow ESD procedures then it should work fine.

Frank, the applet from Crucial shows two slots with 256 Megs each but if I remember correctly there is only 1 slot available for me to install RAM in. My laptop came with 256 Megs of RAM as the basic configuration (I added an extra 256 Megs when I bought the laptop) and I have a feeling that RAM is hardwired onto the mainboard. Under the RAM cover on the bottom of my laptop I believe there is only 1 slot that I can add additional RAM into.

As stated by someone who also responded to my post since My laptop is noy Hyperthreaded or Dual Core I believe I can add 512 Megs to the upgrade slot and be OK. Thanks.
