Will replacing motherboard erase drive data in RAID?
I know, seems like a silly question, but here is the specific situation.

My MB seems to be going, half the time won't boot up completely, won't recognize the Intel onboard raid chip etc. I already replaced the power supply and no help.

So my question is this.

If the raid (just 2 drives) was built with the MB onboard Raid and I replace the motherboard, what is the best way to do it without losing all my data?

If I remember correctly, when I go to build the raid again, it will erase all data on both drives.

For the record I do have a backup, I am just trying to see if there is a way to do this without having to go through the restore and everything.

Thanks for the help!

Never tired it, but I would assume if raid is enabled in the bios of the new board, it will recognize the array just fine, the real issue is it probably will not boot, since the hardware is too different.

Moving a windows installation from one mobo to another has its challenges.
