Cool Solved: motherboard compatibility
okay, this is whats going on:

i had a very nice graphics card upgrade a few days ago, and everything works fine
now i want to upgrade my cpu too in awhile
i have searched around a bit and researched, and found out about the socket of
a motherboard
via the program cpu-z i found out i have AM2 (940) socket
then i looked around for it on my favorite hardware shop site
and they had a really nice processor for my socket
but that one is quad core, and i currently have dual core
i found something about dual-quad core compatibility in motherboards
and i could not find anything on the internet about my motherboard

so now im asking if my motherboard can handle a quad core processor.

ask for any specs u need ^^

We'll need to know your motherboard model. PC Wizard should tell you the model (under mainboard tab) (if you have a factory-built computer like a Dell or HP, etc, please just post the model of it)

Why not just open the case and look at your mb? The brand name and model # are usually silk-screened on the board itself.
Software diagnostic apps are good however nothing replaces a look with the Mark I eyeball.

OK, when I input that number at the foxconn site there are no results. Are you sure that is the model #?
I have not seen any foxconn boards that start with a model number RS. There might be some somewhere however I have never seen any.

As you can see the part # starts with A. That is how most foxconn boards [amd type] start the part # not RS.
You probably found the cpu compatibility chart however here is a link to supported cpus.
