Bought a new ThinkPad several months ago, with Vista, and can't get my two HP printers working. The HP PSC 1311 will take print requests, but it takes 5 minutes before they come out, and it won't scan. The computer and the HP diagnostic tool won't even recognize the HP LaserJet 4. Though Microsoft says both drivers are recognized by Vista, the Add Printer wizard won't load up the LaserJet 4 driver; it just lists it on the printers list with "error" below, and it won't let me delete the driver.

I've had two tech friends look at it and they can't figure it out, other than blaming Vista. I even hooked up my old Dell with XP to make sure the printers were still working, and both printers worked fine on that.

Anyone have a clue?

This is surely a firmware issue since your printer works fine on other systems i suggest you reinstall all drivers with this printer and possibly update the vista firmware.
